COPD takes a high toll from patients, severely impacting their Quality of Life. The disease limits normal physical exertion, and often even the ability to work.

Exacerbations are a main cause of distress to patients. Every year, undetected COPD exacerbations will, in due time, cause 115,000 emergency hospitalizations in the UK – an average of more than 300 every single day of the year.

Current diagnostic methodologies suffer from shortcomings, resulting in lack of certainty in COPD management.

COPD patients have no available means of monitoring their own condition and thus have to pay frequent visits to GPs, or have frequent calls by healthcare professionals, to aid control their condition.
